The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a beautiful Spanish setting on Biscayne Bay in Coral Gables. It was a mansion built in the early 20's by James Deering as a winter home that he used only for a few years until he passed away in 1925. His family donated the estate and the gardens to Miami-Dade County who still runs it today as a museum and event space. James Deering was known to open the gardens up on Sundays starting in 1923 for the public to enjoy.
